COUNSELLING & SUPERVISION
Hello and welcome to my website; I am a qualified, experienced therapist and supervisor based in Woking, Surrey. I provide a compassionate, common-sense approach.
It can feel overwhelming to consider the prospect of seeking professional help, the phrases “how can counselling help me?”, “It’s not that bad”, "there are people worse off”, “I just need to pull myself together” are often thought…
Although counselling might feel ‘indulgent’ or ‘a waste of time’ for some people, it does offer you a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to talk through life experiences that are impacting your wellbeing. Talking to someone who isn’t your family member, friend or colleague is empowering and supports you in deciding how you would like to live your life.
I hope the following pages will help to answer any questions you have about counselling and what you can expect.
Time for you...
ABOUT ME
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and I provide a compassionate, common-sense approach. I offer you professional support to explore what may be troubling or confusing; support to feel empowered in finding a way forward that's right for you.
I provide short and long-term therapy, tailored to individual needs.
I decided to train as a therapist because I fervently believe that growth and change is possible; that you, my client, are the expert of your life. These beliefs underpin my counselling style; respectful, non-judgemental, empathic, I place great importance on your beliefs, thoughts and feelings that emerge during the therapy process.
I look forward to working with you.
Experience
Since gaining my counselling qualification in 2012 I have had the privilege of working in different settings and with many people from all walks of life. This has included working within hospice and prison environments.
I work with young people, adults, older adults and families.
I also teach on behalf of Organisations who wish to better understand the complexities of addiction and how to effectively work with substance misuse clients.
Training & Qualifications
FdA (with Merit) in Counselling, University of Greenwich:
I trained as a Humanistic Counsellor and studied Person-Centred, Gestalt and Existential theoretical models.
These approaches ensure that I place utmost important on you, the client, at all times during our work together. I am led by you to work at a pace that feels safe, manageable and helpful.
I truly believe that this approach can facilitate growth and change - that it is possible to reach our full potential. As our therapeutic relationship strengthens, I may challenge emerging distorted beliefs that have become fixed and problematic to your sense of well-being; how you view yourself, your environment, others, the world...
Since gaining my Counselling qualification I have broadened my modalities and incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused approaches into my practice.
I have furthered my training and achieved an advanced certificate in Couples Therapy
This ensures that I can offer practical, theoretically based interventions that are tailored to meet individual needs; after all, each and every one of us are unique, which is the complexity and delight of being human.
Post Qualification Diploma in Counselling Supervision
I provide Supervision for fellow professionals by developing collegiate working relationships, promoting safe and ethical practice, offering a supportive space to explore further learning and an opportunity to reflect, grow and re-balance.
I am an Accredited and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy:
My Counselling and Supervisory practice is underpinned by BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I attend regular Supervision and actively engage in continued professional development (CPD) to ensure my knowledge is current and relevant to client needs.
